Island Savings is proud to call the Islands home and is committed to making them an even better place to live with our ongoing support of many non-profit and charitable organizations through community partnerships, sponsorships, donations and in-kind support.

As a credit union we believe everyone deserves to have a sense of financial well-being and with our community investment dollars we focus on initiatives that serve the most vulnerable in our community to overcome poverty and transform lives.

Through our signature cause The Full Cupboard, we are committed to raising food, funds and awareness for our local food banks and the serious issue of hunger in our island’s communities.  We look to support other hunger initiatives that serve this basic human need. We are also focused on providing educational and cultural opportunities that invest in people’s lives, lift them up and help to build a better future for everyone.

For us, fostering sustainable partnerships that are having a positive impact on the lives of people in communities where Island Savings operates is a top priority. These partnerships leverage our monetary contributions with knowledge-based volunteerism, employee resources and our extensive network of business products and services.

We want to partner with like-minded organizations to create good things in our communities through high impact, socially motivated programming and events.

If your programming supports any of the following impact areas, we want to hear from you:

  • Hunger
  • Education
  • Arts & Culture

We accept applications from organizations that fit within the following categories:

  • Community public service organization.
  • Community not-for-profit arts, cultural, educational, or social services organizations.
  • Organizations serving Island Savings' communities in a focused manner.
  • Island Savings prioritizes its community investment to the communities where we operate. Currently, these communities include Greater Victoria, Cowichan Valley, Ladysmith, Salt Spring and Pender Island, and Nanaimo.

  • ventures or organizations developing activities for profit. Activities must either be fundraisers or free community events.
  • individuals (for example athletes raising funds to attend the Olympics, etc.), as we prefer to concentrate our efforts on organizations serving a group of people.
  • groups that represent a conflict of interest for Island Savings, or that promote specific programs or issues where members of the Credit Union may have significantly divergent views.
  • religious or political organizations and affiliated activities.
  • operational costs or for debt servicing.

We currently have two granting cycles each year. Sponsorship and donation requests received during these cycles will be reviewed by our Community Investment team for eligibility and fit and we will contact you if additional information is needed. We will let you know our decision by email.
