Make a Difference Days

Making a difference in the communities we serve

Island Savings employees trade in their suits and skirts for jeans and boots throughout the month of October as we serve our community and non-profit partners during our annual Make a Difference Days campaign. Make a Difference Days is a community service program, designed to encourage and support employee involvement with a social issue or non-profit organization in our community. Since 2015, we contributed over 1,186 hours to 154 different projects in communities where Island Savings operates.

We focused our efforts with community partners working on projects serving the needs of island families. Our enthusiastic teams helped out at the local food banks, community kitchens and gardens that are supported by The Full Cupboard program. We also partnered with many of our community partners supported through our GIFT program. Community agencies our staff enjoyed giving back to included:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cowichan Valley
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria & Area
  • Burnside Gorge Community Association
  • Chemainus Harvest House
  • Cowichan Valley Basket Society
  • Favour Valley Acres Farm
  • Goldstream Food Bank
  • Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada
  • Ladysmith Family and Friends Society
